Fredrick Lawrence Pfeifer (1875-1951) and Nellie Edith Logan (1891-1967) were married in 1912 in Indiana, where they met as employees of the Grant County Orphan's Home. Nellie was descended from the Logan and Bradford families of Grant County and had grown up in the Orphan's Home after her parents' separation. Fred was the son of German immigrant farmers from Ohio. The couple later resided in Becker County, Minnesota, where Fred was county surveyor and Nellie worked as a seamstress. This family portrait including children (L-R) Charlotte, Eleanor, and Forest was taken around 1918.
