Biographical notes for Frohman Murphy Foster
Frohman’s sister-in-law Maud Hart Lovelace authored the “Betsy-Tacy” series of children’s books based on her own life. The character Paige, who marries Julia (based on Kathleen Palmer Hart), was inspired by Frohman:

“[Julia] had met Paige in New York, where she was singing in the opera. Like Julia, he came from the Middle West, from Indiana, where he had attended the University before studying the flute in the East. Now he played with one of the orchestras there. He was, Betsy discovered later, a very attractive young man, tall, light haired, and ethereal looking.”

—from Betsy and the Great World (1952)
